The DC Dialogue, hosted by Resources for the Future (RFF) on October 11-12, 2011, saw the participation of over 50 representatives from the private sector, US government, and academia.

US Government representatives included those from the Department of State, the Environment Protection Agency, and the Department of Energy.

Participants included representatives from the following business associations: the International Chamber of Commerce; the Business Council for

Sustainable Energy; the Canadian Council of Chief Executives; the International Council on Mining and Metals and the following companies: The Exxon Mobil Corporation, General Electric,  Goldman Sachs,  the Monsanto Company, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Procter & Gamble, and many more.

Intergovernmental ogranizations included representatives from the UN Environment Programme and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).NGO’s and Think Tanks included fellows and researchers from RFF, The Brookings Institution, the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research, the Center for Strategic and International Studies, and the Nature Conservancy.

Phil Sharp, President of RFF, and Peter Robinson, President & CEO of USCIB opened the 1st Dialogue session on October 12. Excerpts of their Opening Remarks can be viewed below:

The final panel featured (left to right): Ray Kopp, RFF; Keri Holland, U.S. Department of State; Norine Kennedy, USCIB; Louise Kantrow, ICC. Panelists shared their views on the discussion and how it can be used to promote effective and positive outcomes from Rio+20, and more generally for the issues involved in building international cooperation to move to a greener economy.

The Dialogue session concluded with remarks by Ann Condon (below), Chair of the USCIB Environment Committee; Director & Counsel, EHS programs, Europe, Middle East and Africa, at General Electric.
